Patna: Students aspiring for engineering degree can participate in the mop up round of counselling conducted by the Bihar Joint Entrance Competitive Examination Council (BCECEB) to fill up vacant seats in the government and private engineering colleges in the state.
The BCECEB has announced the schedule for the mop up round, under which the board has opened the window for registration of aspiring candidates from Sunday (October 16). The candidates can register themselves online on the board’s websites till 10pm on October 21.
After two rounds of counselling, which ended on October 13, there are around 7,000 vacant seats in the government and private engineering colleges in the state. Together, these colleges have 12,000 seats in the Bachelor in Technology (B Tech) courses.
So far, around 5,000 students, qualified as per the marks obtained in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Mains, have taken admissions in the B Tech courses in various colleges.
The candidates, who have taken the JEE Main this year will be able to participate in this round for admission.

Who are qualified for counselling?
According to the BCECEB, all the candidates who appeared in the JEE Main 2022, are qualified for the counselling. They are, however, deemed to register themselves afresh. The aspiring candidates must have at least 45% marks in 12th and at least 40% marks for reserved class candidates. BCECEB says time is short.

Students can register from October 16 to 21 at 10 pm. Corrections in the forms can be made by 11:59 pm on October 22nd. The merit list will be published on October 25 and offline counselling for admission will start from November 2.
BCECEB has said that candidates who have applied in the past and wish to join the mop up counselling whether they have taken admission on the basis of both counselling or not, can log in to their account with their user ID and password for mop up counselling can give their consent for it.

- Date of registration- 16th October
- Deadline for registration- 21st October at 10pm

- Publication of Merit List- 25 October at 8 pm
- Offline counselling date: From 2nd November
