Patna: The Patna district administration has got into the action mode to dismantle encroachments on the portion of land earmarked for construction of Danapur-Bihta stretch of elevated road by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The NHAI has sought acquisition of around 64 acre land by the side of existing two-lane Danapur-Bihta road (starting from Danapur railway station) for building 25-km four-lane road on elevated and at grade level as part of the Patna-Buxar road project. The Buxar-Koilwar stretch has been complete and inaugurated by Union minister for road transport and highways (MoRTH) Nitin Gadkari last year.
However, work on the Patna-Koilwar portion of the road could not take off for want of availability of land. The Danapur railway division has already allotted around 10 acre land for construction of the road in lieu of land the state government has provided to the railways near Patna junction. However, the acquisition of land from individual raiyyats are still to be formalised. The state government has already sanctioned a sum of ₹456 crore to be paid to the land owners for acquisition land.

The NHAI has reminded the state government to provide the required portion of land, as it has allocated the work to build the Danapur-Bihta stretch to Ashoka Buildcon, which has singed the agreement.
District land acquisition officer, Patna, Ranjan Kumar Chaudhary said that they would start dismantling as many as 332 temporary and permanent constructions, identified on 64-acre land after payment of the compensation as per the norms.
Citing the decision of the district magistrate-led project monitoring committee (PMC) on Tuesday, Chaudhary said that mauza-wise camp would be organised for disbursement of compensation for land to be acquired for Danapur-Bihta elevated road project and other nine major infrastructure projects going on the district. The state government has already released ₹456 for disbursement of compensation in lieu of land acquisition for the project.

Of the total length, Danapur-Bihta road, being built at the cost of ₹3000 crore will have five kilometre construction on at grade mode, while the rest would be constructed on elevated structure.
The road project was sanctioned by MoRTH as part of the PM package to Bihar, along with Koilwar-Buxar stretch, ahead of the 2015 assembly elections in Bihar and its revised estimate was approved in 2020.
