Patna: The number of flights from Patna’s Jaiprakash Narayan International (JPNI) airport has been reduced to 37 pair instead of 52 pairs operating till yesterday. Direct flights to Amritsar, Bhubaneshwar and Surat have been suspended, as per the winter schedule of flights released the local Airports Authority of India (AAI) office here on Friday.
As per the revised schedule, which will continue till December 31, Patna-Delhi-Patna sector will have the maximum 15 pair of daily flights. The schedule did not have any flight to Varanasi, Prayagraj and Deoghar, which was expected to be announced.
Indigo has started a new flight service from Patna to Chandigarh and Jaipur-Patna-Guwahati sector. Spice Jet has currently stopped flights from Patna to Amritsar and Surat, while Indigo discontinued Patna-Bhubaneswar services. There is only one plane for Ranchi, whereas earlier there were two. After getting permission from the Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA), Patna Airport authorities released the schedule of 37 pairs of aircraft yesterday.
15 pair of flights suspended
In view of the foggy weather in December, the operation of 15 pairs of aircraft from the airlines operating from Patna has been stopped till 31st December. In view of inclement weather and lower visibility, AAI, Patna, keeps on curtailing the number of flights in December. Earlier, 52 pairs of aircraft were operating from Patna.
Flight operation to begin at 9.05 am
As per the new schedule, there are 15 pairs of flights between Delhi-Patna-Delhi sector. The first flight from Patna is to take off at 9.05 in the morning of Indigo. Earlier the first flight to Delhi was at 8.25 am. The last flight to Delhi is at 9.30 pm. Earlier the last flight was at 9.40 pm. According to the new schedule, till December 31, the operation of aircraft at Patna airport will start from 8.30 am and will continue till 9.30 pm.

Maximum 21 pairs of flights of Indigo out of 37
Indigo will continue to operate the maximum number of flight from Patna airport. It will have 21 pairs out of 37 pairs of flights, while SpiceJet will fly six pair of aircrafts, Go Air four, Air India three pairs, Vistara two pairs and Flybig will ply one pair of aircraft. After Delhi, Mumbai has the maximum number of five flights, while Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune and Guwahati have two flights each. There are three flights from Patna to Bangalore, one each for Chennai, Ranchi, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad.
