Union minister of state for external affairs and education Rajkumar Ranjan Singh announced the results of the eighth edition of NIRF India ranking in New Delhi and gave away the prizes.

Continuing its dominance in the higher education, IIT Madras held its number 1 position in ranking in the ‘overall’ category for the 5th consecutive year and in the ‘engineering’ category for the eight consecutive year, since the ranking was started in 2016.

In the ‘research institutions’ category, IIT Madras was ranked 2nd, its previous position, while it also clinched the 2nd rank in ‘innovations’ category. Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, has topped the university category.

This initiative has fostered a culture of data organisation and curation among participating institutes, promoting healthy competition.”

“Institutes such as IITs, IIM, NITs, IIITs are doing well in India ranking in 2023. It is also heartening to see the rankings are pointing to the evolution of private universities.
