Patna: A Ghaziabad based software firm VueNow Infotech Ltd has proposed to invest a sum of ₹817 crore in Bihar for setting up data centres across the state. This is one of the biggest investment proposals in Information Technology (IT) sector that the state has received so far.

The firm’s officials last month visited Bihar and met the Minister of Department of Information Technology (DoIT), Jibesh Kumar and other senior officials of the department and discussed the proposed investment plans.

Talking to KhabarInfra, the Minister said that the investment proposal would be evaluated and sent to the chief minister’s office (CMO) for the final approval.

Kumar said the favourable condition for investment had begun yielding results. “Growing confidence among the investments towards the state would further strengthen the economy and help the government create a better business environment,” said the minister.

The proposal entails building of four-tier data centre with 100 racks at the master hub located at Patna with an installed capacity of 1.2 MW  energy consumption at full IT load, and a network of 40 edge data centres. “In the first phase, four hub locations would be set up at Dharbhanga, Bhagalpur, Purnea, and Buxar, with an aggregate power usage of around 2.4 MW energy consumption at full IT load. Phase two expansion plan includes two hub locations and ten edge data centres (EDCs). The third phase would see the completion of 24 EDCs,” said an officer of DoIT.

VueNow Infotech has already been allocated land by Himachal Pradesh government in pursuant to the signed MoU, and has also been allocated 6 Acres of land in Silicon Valley of Kolkata. They have inked an MOU with the Plovdiv technology park in the Republic of Bulgaria to develop the country’s comprehensive data centre infrastructure.

Bihar is rapidly becoming a leader in e-Governance and information technology. The State provides sufficient opportunities for the expansion of the IT and ITeS sectors and has created basic ICT infrastructure, including a state data center, a statewide area network with e-district, and so on. “The state government provides numerous government-to-citizen services via the e-district site. The government is committed to establish the state-of-the-art facility as a State command and control center,” said the Minister.

“In today’s expanding digital economy, every business’s IT infrastructure must be scalable in order to maintain a consistent level of performance. With organisations inevitably undergoing a digital transition, data has become the most valuable asset for every firm. This creates an urgent need for data storage, which is where we come in,” stated VueNow’s Managing Director VC Roy.
