Bihar industries dept showcases investment scope in IT/ITeS sector

A large number of investors, trade and industries body representatives participated in the daylong investors’ meet organised by the industries department

Patna: The department of industries, Bihar, in collaboration with science, technology & technical education department organised an investors’ meet here on Tuesday to woo investments in the information technology (IT), IT enabled services (ITeS) and electronics system design and manufacturing sector in the state.

The event aimed at establishing the state as the most preferred investment destination by leveraging the state’s competitive advantages and maximizing employment opportunities for attaining balanced regional and sustainable development.

Officials of the industries department said that the state government has considered the IT, ITeS and ESDM sectors as high priority sector under Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Policy, 2016. The event was attended additional chief secretary, industries, Sandeep Poundrik, development commissioner Vivek Kumar Singh and other dignitaries from Central and the state governments.

Welcoming the guests, industries director Pankaj Dixit said that this gathering marked a significant milestone in the sector of technology and innovation, bringing together esteemed investors, industry leaders, and visionaries from across the globe. “In this digital age, the IT/ITES and ESDM sectors have emerged as key drivers of economic growth and transforming industries. The immense potential of these sectors to foster innovation, create employment opportunities, and boost economic development cannot be overstated,” said Dixit.

This investors meet provided a platform for the entrepreneurs to explore boundless opportunities that lie ahead and forge fruitful partnerships that will shape the future of these sectors specially in Bihar even by fostering collaboration and propelling the growth of IT/ITES and ESDM sectors.

Poundrik said that the state government of Bihar is putting all efforts to make the state a major hub of IT, IteS and ESDM sectors in the country through focussed initiatives. He further added that the state has already embarked on the development of the IT, ITeS and ESDM industry with the implementation of several initiatives. During his presentation mentioned that Bihar is developing as a major Start-up Hub with 162 starups and has a full fledged eco system to support the IT industry.

Secretary, department of IT, Santosh Kumar Mall, while underscoring commitment of Poundrik, said that the IT department was striving to transform the image of Bihar and helping the state become one of the most favourable destinations for different industries.

Joint secretary, MeitY, Amitesh Kumar Sinha, lauded the state government’s initiative to make Bihar an investment friendly destination and said that the mega investors’ meet was a step forward in the right direction. “The focus on emerging technologies, data governance, and artificial intelligence (AI) centres of excellence is expected to drive innovation, create new job opportunities and propel India’s software industry to new heights,” added Sinha.

Bihar’s development commissioner Vivek Kumar Singh said that the state has made huge strides in its efforts to create an investor friendly environment on the State through investor-centric policies. Emphasing on the improved law & order conditions of the state, Singh said that Bihar is currently the most secure state for an average citizen. “The state has a plenty of skilled workforce, who are working at other states for want of suitable industries in the state. The skilled people can come back to their homes if they can get new and better opportunities in their home state only,” said the development commissioner.

A large number of investors from across the country and representatives of associations such as India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA), Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA) and National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) attended the event.
