Patna: The Indian Institute of Technology, Patna (IIT-P) is all set to start six unique undergraduate (UG) courses to pave entry of such students who aspire to take admission in IITs but could not make it through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) channel.
IIT-P will invite online admission applications to these by September end and the classes are likely to commence from the first week of November.
Of six courses, three are of computer science stream with specialisation in computer science & data analytics, artificial intelligence & cybersecurity and mathematics & computer science. While three business management courses include specialisation in accounting & financial management, business management & analytics and bachelor in business administration.
IIT-P officials said the new courses have been designed in compliance with the New Education Policy (NEP) -2020 framework, giving flexibility to students and enhance their employable skills.

IIT-P’s director TN Singh said that the new courses were designed to fulfil aspirations of school (10+2) pass outs who dream of IIT quality education but miss the chance through JEE (Advance). There are multiple channels for entry to these new programs of studies including valid scores of JEE Main, CUCET, NTSE, KVPY, INSPIRE, state level entrance and IITP-SAT.
He said, “The courses are industry skill-oriented, curriculum at par with global standards at an affordable fee. It also facilitates earning while learning as students will get paid apprenticeship opportunities. The students will have an opportunity of entry and exit each year with a flexibility to re-enter the course with credit bank facility.”

Interested candidates can check the details of the courses on the official website www.iitp.ac.in. The new courses have a total intake capacity of 1500 with 250 seats in each course. The semester fee for computer science programme and management programme will be Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
