Pragati Yatra: CM Nitish Kumar offers ₹109-cr projects for Siwan

A bypass will be constructed, connecting NH 227 and NH 531, to solve the recurring snarl ups in Siwan town, said chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday in course of his Pragati Yatra in the district. The CM was in Siwan as part of his 2nd leg of Pragati Yatra, kicked off on January 4 from Gopalganj, and laid the foundation stones and inaugurated 127 developmental schemes costing ₹109 crore. A public playground and a rural haat, built under MGNREGA, were among the projects that were inaugurated. The CM inspected the proposed alignment site of Siwan-bypass in village Narayanpur of Pachrukhi block and instructed the officials to start work on the project at the earliest, as it would considerably reduce the unwanted traffic to the town. The 13.80 km long bypass would connect Mohammadpur Mor (NH-531) and Chhapia-Tedhighat-Gopalpur (NH-227A) through a rail over bridge (ROB). Nitish Kumar also visited a pond beautified under Jal-Jeevan Hariyali Abhiyan in Karhuna village of Machkana Panchayat located in Hussainganj block of the district and released fish seeds in the pond. Later, he inaugurated the educational and administrative blocks of the newly built Government backward class girls residential +2 School having 520 seats at Bhaisakhal of Jiradei block under Siwan district. On the occasion, the CM announced that the century old Mouniya Baba Mela at Maharajganj would be accorded the status of a state fair. People visiting the fair every year will have better amenities. “Bhantapokhar-Jiradei Path via Jamapur Bazaar will be widened and strengthened to provide better connectivity to the birthplace of the country’s first President Rajendra Prasad. Along with it, The 55 km long Manjhi-Darouli-Ghuthni path in Siwan will be widened by 10 meters. Approach roads will be constructed to connect two bridges built by Uttar Pradesh on the Ghaghra river with Siwan,” said the CM.
