Patna Metro: Akashvani underground station to get subway facility

Two-level station nearest to Patna junction and Gandhi Maidan metro stations will have three exists for hassle-free passengers’ movement

Patna Metro underground station

Patna: Akashvani metro station of Patna metro rail project located in the heart of city of Patna, Frazer Road is 235 m length with the track’s depth at 16 m from ground level. This underground station of corridor- II will provide additional facility to the pedestrian and commuters in the Frazer Road area to cross from one side to the other through proposed metro subway without entering into paid metro area.

This metro station has been proposed to facilitate hassle free movement to the passengers of areas around like Frazer Road, S.P verma Road, Exhibitions Road, Gandhi Maidan, Duk Bunglow, Patna Station, Station Road, Maurya Lok etc, said a senior officer of Patna metro rail corporation (PMRC).

It will also be providing connectivity to important offices, commercial buildings and Malls around Frazer Road like LIC Building, BSEB office, Hindi Bhawan (DM office), All India Radio station, Patna Central Mall, Fazal Imam Complex, Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir etc.
The nearest station to Akashvani metro station will be Patna Station and Gandhi Maidan metro stations.

Akashvani Station will be of two levels

This station is planned to be on two levels. Concourse will be at minus one (-1) level and below this platform will be on minus (-2) level, according to the layout proposed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), which is executing the project as technical consultant.

Facilities for passengers

Concourse will have passengers-centric facilities like ticket counter, public convenience such as toilets, security checks etc. Since this station is multi-modal integration point and also among busiest place of the city, there will be additional facilities on this station for passengers like air-conditioned metro coaches and station. The stations will have five escalators, four lifts and four staircases for the passenger’s usage.

Station will have three entry/exit gates

  • Entry/Exit Gate-1: Near LIC building
  • Entry/Exit Gate-2: At the entry gate of Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir & All India Radio station
  • Entry/Exit Gate-3: Near Patna Central Mall and in front of Fazal Imam Complex

Subway facility for pedestrian

This station is located at Frazer Road and Dak bungalow area; on one of the busiest commercial /non-commercial hubs of the city. Hence for the ease of commuters and pedestrian a subway connectivity is proposed where pedestrian can cross from one side of Frazer to other side through this station. For this purpose, Entry/Exit doors of this station will be interconnected. Entry Gate 1 will be connected to Entry Gate 3.

Arrangements for emergency situations

There will be adequate arrangements to evacuate passengers smoothly from platforms in case of any emergency. For such emergency situation five fire escapes has been proposed for evacuations passengers and Fireman escapes during any emergency.
