New Delhi: The National Thermal Power Corporation Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the NTPC Limited, has floated the tender to engage developers for a 9,000 Megawatt-Hour (MWH) of inter state transmission system (ISTS)-connected energy storage solution.
The bid documents stated that plants could be located anywhere in the country. Plant capacity shall not be less that 1,500 MW. NTPC REL said that an e-reverse auction would follow the bidding process.
The tender document claimed that the renewable venture of NTPC Ltd wanted the energy storage systems to meet its Renewable Energy Round The Clock (RTS)/peak power requirements complementing with wind and solar generation profile under the ISTS mode.
The organisation said that it resorted to the global tender mode to ensure participation of global leaders in the bidding process. After bidding, NTPC REL would enter into an energy storage service agreement on an annual fixed charge basis with the selected bidders for 25 years.
