Longest bridge in Jharkhand on Mayurakshi river opened for traffic

Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren also inaugurated 11 road projects in Dumka district built at the cost of ₹319.41 crore and laid foundation of 12 roads, costing ₹143.26 crore

Longest Bridge in Jharkhand

Dumka (Jharkhand): Chief minister Hemant Soren on Monday formally inaugurated the 2.34km long bridge on river Mayurakshi at Kumaradabad in Dumka district. This is the longest road bridge on a river in the state. It has been built at the cost of about ₹198 crore.

Along with it, the CM also opened as many as 11 road projects, costing about ₹319.41 crore and laid foundation stones for 12 road project to be executed the cost of ₹143.26 crore. Soren said that the roads and bridges would open the way for multidimensional development of the state.

Development will get a new direction

The chief minister said that this bridge built on Mayurakshi river will give a new direction to development. This will make transportation accessible and easy as it will curtail the distance from Makarampur to Dumka district headquarter to 15 km from the 30km before construction of the bridge. Many villages will have direct contact with Dumka district headquarters. People will save time in commuting. Education, employment and business will get a boost. There will be socio-economic upliftment of the area and it will prove to be a milestone in terms of tourism.

Mayurakshi river bridge to be named after Shibu Soren

The Chief Minister said that contribution of immortal heroes, martyrs and those who fought for creation of Jharkhand should always be remembered. Soren expressed happiness over the people’s demand for naming the newly constructed bridge on Mayurakshi River as Dishom Guru Shibu Soren Setu. He said that the government will launch the process of naming Mayurakshi River Bridge as Dishom Guru Shibu Soren Setu.

Abua housing scheme launched

Soren also launched the much talked-about Abua housing scheme in the district. The scheme aims to provide houses to all homeless families in the district. “The dream of all the homeless to have their own home will be fulfilled. For this, Abua Housing Scheme is being started. Under this scheme, houses will be provided to eight lakh families,” said the CM.

People urged to avail govt incentive to educate children

The Chief Minister asked the villagers to educate their children well and hemp them shape their career. “Don’t worry about the expenses on education. The government will bear this expense, as the it had launched a scheme to provide financial assistance for everything from preparation for competitive exams to courses like medical, engineering and law,” said Soren.

Officials of the education department said that they were providing 100% scholarship for studying abroad. To ensure that girls remain connected to studies, Savitribai Phule Kishori Savitri Yojana is being run.
