Patna: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is likely to place the purchase order for the set of rakes for Patna metro rail soon. The Bihar state government has sanctioned an amount of ₹115.10 crore for fresh procurements, which include purchases of two rakes of the metro rail. The state government has set November 2025 as the deadline to start initial operation of metro rail in Patna.

A senior officer of the urban development and housing department (UDHD), which engaged DMRC as technical consultant to execute the project, said that metro train is likely to run first on the 6.63km elevated stretch between Inter-state bus terminal (ISBT), Bairiya and Malahi Pakri. “This is the first leg of the second line, connecting ISBT to Patna junction via Rajendra Nagar, PMCH and Gandhi Maidan. Work to build a tunnel for laying tracks from Moinul Haq stadium to Patna University (about 1.50km) is almost complete,” said the officer.
