ECR launches long-awaited Ranchi-Giridih intercity express

Giridih: The long-awaited Ranchi-Giridih intercity express train, fitted with vistadome coach, went on its inaugural run from New Giridih station on Tuesday. Union minister of state for education and Koderma MP Annapurna Devi flagging off the train along with other elected representatives.

The minister also captured the golden opportunity in her camera while travelling in the train. There is an atmosphere of enthusiasm among local people due to the operation of the train between Ranchi and Giridih.

On its inaugural run, the train ran via Barkakana, Muri and Tatisilwai instead of the regular route. Regular service of the train will start from September 13. The biggest feature of this train is that Vistadome coach has also been arranged in the train. For the first time, a train with Vistadome coach has arrived in Jharkhand.

Vista Dome coach has large glass windows and roof to offer a complete view of the outside for the passengers and enjoy the natural beauty of Jharkhand during the journey. While travelling in this, the passenger gets a side as well as upward view. Vistadome coaches have been designed to provide passengers with travel convenience and an enhanced viewing experience of their surroundings. However, travelling in Vistadome coach is a bit expensive.

Train Timing

Ranchi-New Giridih-Ranchi Intercity Express train will leave Ranchi at 06.05 am and reach New Giridih at 1 pm. This train will leave from Giridih at 2 o’clock in the day and reach Ranchi at 9:30 in the night. The number of this train from Ranchi is 18617 and from New Giridih its number is 18618. Between Ranchi and New Giridih, the fare for second seating is ₹130, the fare for AC chair car is ₹465 and the fare for Vista Dome coach is ₹1260, said an east central railway (ECR) officer.

After launching the train, Union minister Annapurna Devi also travelled along with her party workers in the Vistadome coach and memorialized this golden moment in her digital camera. She said the Central government has fulfilled the demand of people of Giridih for a train from Giridih to Ranchi for a long time.

She said that the train is a big gift for the people of Giridih, which will benefit every section of the people here. “Iin the coming months, more train facilities will be provided to the people of Giridih.

Giridih MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu, Gandey MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed, Jamua MLA Kedar Hazra besides Dhanbad DRM Kamal Kishore Sinha were present during the flagging off ceremony of the train from New Giridih station.
