BPSC to conduct teachers’ recruitment exam every year in August

Around 7,000-10,000 teachers will be appointed every year to bridge the gap in student-teacher ratio to 30:1 in accordance with the New Education Policy 2022

Patna: Have you finished your Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) or waiting to clear it and hence missed the opportunity to appear in the recently held teachers’ recruitment exams in Bihar? Never mind! You still have the chance to become a government teacher. The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has in consultation with the state education department has finalised the schedule to conduct the teachers’ recruitment test every year.

After the meeting with senior officers of the state education department, BPSC chairman Atul Prasad on social media announced that the commission will hold the teachers’ recruitment exam every year in August to fill up the vacancies. Unlike the phase-1 drive, B Ed appearing students have not been allowed to participate in the 2nd phase exam, the registration process of which has begun on November 5.

BPSC secretary Ravi Bhushan said that the education department would sent requisition of teachers every year after accessing the vacancies to the BPSC, which will conduct the examination in the month August. “As per the agreement reached, the BPSC will hold exam in accordance with the vacancies notified by the education department,” he added.

Another senior officer of the BPSC said that since only the Central Teacher’s Eligibility Test (CTET) or the State Teachers’ Eligibility Test (STET) qualified aspirants are eligible to undertake the recruitment examination, the BPSC is waiting for the results of forthcoming CTET exam, scheduled be held on January 21 next year. The appearing candidates of CTET have been demanding the chance to appear for the 2nd phase of the examination. But, they are left disappointed by the BPSC this time. Official said that final year students of the B Ed and Diploma in elementary education (DElED) are also eyeing for the opportunity to participate in the examination.

Around 1.70 lakh students have so far registered themselves for the 2nd phase examination. The last date for registration is November 14, and the BPSC has categorically stated that there will be no extension of the date for registration. However, the candidates, who have registered with the BPSC can pay the late fee till November 17. The application process will commence on November 10 and the last date to submit the application form is November 25. The written exam is likely to be held between December 7 and 10.
