Bengaluru-bound SpiceJet flight suffers tech fault at Patna, delayed

Flight SG-532 with 142 passengers, including the crew, was about to take off when pilot detected fault in wing’s movement and aborted it at around 6.40pm on Wednesday

Patna: Passengers of a SpiceJet flight from Patna to Bengaluru had a miraculous scape on Wednesday evening, thanks to alertness of the pilot, who detected snag in the wing’s movement and aborted the take off from Patna’s Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport (JPNI).

Reports said that as many as 142 passengers, including the crew, had boarded the SpiceJet flight SG 532, which was about to take off at around 6.40pm. Minutes before the take off from Patna airport, the pilot noticed the slight deviation in movement of the wings during final check up before moving on to the runway.

Immediately after detection of the mechanical fault, all passengers were deboarded and technical staff were called to resolve the issues. It took around five hours of the technical expert to detect the snag and correct that. The flight finally took off for its destination at around 11pm.

A senior executive of the SpiceJet said that the take off of the flight had to be aborted due to technical snag at the eleventh hour. “It could be a major disaster if the flight had taken off without correcting the fault. The flight had to be reschedule for thorough inspection and it took off at 11.05pm,” said the airline staff.

Chaos and confusion prevailed among the passengers, when they were asked to alight from the plane owing to some technical fault. However, soon they realised gravity of the situation and decided to wait patiently until the technical fault is rectified.
