Dhanbad: Serious resentment is prevailing among the employees of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India, over prevalence of dual policy for marking their biometric attendance.

Recently, the BCCL management has introduced the biometric attendance system for all its staff and officials and made it mandatory to avoid salary cut. However a section of the employees alleged that some employees were allowed by the management to mark their attendance only once, while the rest are deemed to mark attendance both during their arrival and departure from the offices.

The employees have been demanding uniformity in the attendance system. Machines to record biometric attendance have been installed at various places in the office and at mines.

According to the order from the BCCL management, arrangements have been made for the employees to mark their attendance at their entry and exit through the system. In this, some employees have been given exemption by the top management. They have to make one time attendance.

Resentment is building up among a section of employees. Those, who have to mark their attendance during entry and exit time claimed it was unfair to have two systems running in one company. “Those close to the management are getting extraordinary privileges,” claimed an employee.

Employees say that it would be better if an order is issued to make one time attendance for everyone. If this does not happen, the exemption given to some people should be cancelled. If the current system continues to be in place, chaos may spread.
