PM dedicates 3 institutes of eminence of Ayush streams to nation

Panjim (Goa): Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated three national institutes of eminence in Ayush therapeutic stream. The institutes opened included All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Goa, National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM) in Ghaziabad, and National Institute of Homoeopathy (NUH) at Delhi.

Modi opened the institutes while participating at the valedictory ceremony of the 9th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) at Panjim, Goa. The four days deliberation at 9th WAC provided a global platform for national and global stakeholders, industry leaders, practitioners, traditional healers, educationists, and manufacturers for engaging in intellectual exchange to strengthen the Ayurveda sector.

Addressing the gathering Modi, said, “We need to continuously work toward the documentation of ‘Data Based Evidence’, we had Ayurveda’s results as well as effects in our favour, but we were lagging behind in terms of evidence. He emphasized that our medical data, research, and journals have to be brought together to verify every claim on modern scientific parameters.”

He added that more than 30 countries have recognized Ayurveda as a traditional medicine system and we have to further promote Ayurveda in every country of the world. PM emphasized that Ayurveda is not just about treatment, it also promotes wellness. The world is now returning to our traditional medicine and Yoga and Ayurveda are the new hope for the world.

On this occasion, Ayush minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “Ayush ministry is committed to imparting Ayush health systems into day to day life of the common man by strengthening systems in Health as well as the Education sectors to the people of India. We want Ayush system to become a part of every household not only in India but globally and are trying our best to fulfil dream of Heal in India.”

Conceived as the apex institute of Ayurveda, AIIA, Goa, will strive to grow as a hub of fundamental drug and clinical research to make Ayurveda evidence based therapy. Standardization and validation of Ayurvedic drugs and treatment modalities is top of the institute’s agenda, said AIIA, Goa, director Tanuja Nesari.

The NIH has been set up to bringing a valid and useful synergy between established practices of Homoeopathy and modern tools and technology in modern health care. The institute offers postgraduate and doctoral courses in various disciplines of Homoeopathy and focus on fundamental research, drug development, standardization, quality control, safety evaluation and scientific validation of Homoeopathy medicine and practices.

The NIUM, Ghaziabad, has been built at the cost of ₹381 crore to produce high quality professionals in various streams of Unani medicine. It has 14 departments and will also focus on fundamental aspects, drug development, quality control, safety evaluation and scientific validation of Unani medicine and practices. The Institute will establish benchmark standards in education, healthcare and research.

Lt governor, govt of NCT, Vijay Kumar Saxena was the chief guest at NIH, Delhi. It is a first of its kind to be established in Northern India for developing the Homoeopathic system of medicine. Union MoS for road transport & highways VK Singh was chief guest at NIUM, Ghaziabad.
