New Delhi: The Churhat bypass including twin tunnel on Rewa-Sidhi section of the national highways (NH-75E) in Madhya Pradesh is almost ready for the opening.

In a series of tweets Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari informed that work is nearly complete on the Rewa-Sidhi section of NH 75E and it will be opened soon for traffic.

The minister said moving forward with the vision of sustainable development and ensuring the harmonious coexistence of man, nature & wildlife, this bypass has a twin tunnel that will result in zero interference to movement of wildlife in the forest.

Gadkari said as a result of the diversion of traffic, the natural habitat where ‘white tiger Mohan’ lived, has been found to be restored. He said suitable number of underpasses will reduce possibilities for road accidents and ensure road safety. The construction of the tunnel will reduce bottleneck traffic at Mohaniya Ghat and provide smooth transit, he added.

The Minister said the construction of twin tube tunnel has reduced the distance between Rewa to Sidhi by about seven km with improved geometrics that will also reduce the travel time by 45 minutes.

DBL Rewa Sidhi Highways, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dilip Buildcon, (DBL) has got the order to build Rewa-Sidhi section of the NH by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The scope of work involved construction of road tunnel, viaduct and Churhat bypass of Rewa Sidhi section of NH-75E from chainage 33.200 to chainage 55.400 (design length 15.350 km) at cement concrete pavement configuration in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

The projects is being implemented on design, build, operate and transfer or hybrid annuity basis. The initial estimated cost of construction of the project is ₹1,004 crore with construction period of 48 months. The operation period is of 15 years.
