Hubballi: The North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) marked a milestone in enhancing public transportation by distributing appointment letters to 46 new drivers and launching its innovative Commercial Shop License Management Software at a ceremony held at its Hubballi headquarters.

Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy handed over the appointment orders, emphasizing the transparent recruitment process. “Despite delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our government has successfully appointed 1,000 drivers and driver-cum-conductors since resuming the process initiated in 2019,” Reddy stated, congratulating the recruits.

The event also saw the launch of NWKRTC’s Commercial Shop License Management Software, designed to streamline and enhance transparency in managing the Corporation’s commercial spaces. This technological advancement underscores NWKRTC’s commitment to modern governance in public transport.

NWKRTC Chairman Bharamgouda Kage highlighted the need for additional driving personnel while addressing financial challenges. “This recruitment addresses immediate needs, but we require government grants to support further hiring and infrastructure upgrades,” he urged.

Managing Director Priyanka M. welcomed attendees, emphasizing the role of technology in transforming public transport. The event was attended by dignitaries, including NWKRTC Vice-Chairman Peersab Koujalagi, KSRTC Managing Director Akram Pasha, BMTC Managing Director R. Ramachandran, KKRTC Managing Director M. Rachappa, and senior officials, alongside representatives from Dream Step Technologies, the software developer.

NWKRTC’s dual initiatives signal a progressive step toward improving public transport efficiency and are set for widespread coverage across print and visual media in the District.
