NHAI issues tender to build 1st package of Ram Janki Path in Bihar

Patna: In a fresh development towards construction of much-awaited Ram Janki Path – a four-lane road connecting Ayodhya with Bihar’s Mithila region – the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has issued tender to build the first stretch of 50km from Siwan to Masrakh.

Bihar Road Construction Department (RCD) Minister Nitin Nabin said the NHAI has proposed to spend a total ₹1027 crore to construct Siwan-Masrakh stretch of the four-lane.
“A total of four bypasses are to be constructed in the said part of Ram Janki Marg, which includes Siwan bypass (4.63 km), Tarwara bypass (7.38 km), Basantpur bypass (14.66 km) and Mashrakh bypass (2.29 km),” said Nabin

Apart from this, one major bridge, 14 minor bridges, 15 underpasses, one ROB and two grade separators will also be built in that portion of the road. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had decided to rope in the NHAI to build Bihar’s portion of the Ram Janki Marg on the request of the State Government.

In keeping with religious significance of places in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, the MoRTH has decided to develop the entire stretch of about 240 km long Ram Janki Marg – From Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh (the birth place of Lord Ram) to Sitamarhi (the birth place of Goddess Sita) in Bihar.

Nabin said that efforts were on to prepare a detailed project report to develop a total of 48 km road from Mashrakh to Chakia, which is the second package of Ram Janki Path. A total of 103-km road from Chakia to Bhithamod will also be constructed in four-lane in the third package in the state.

Besides, approval is being taken from the MoRTH to develop a total of 40 km stretch from Mehrauna Ghat to Siwan in four-lane. The Minister said that a separate route would be available to the devotees to go to Ayodhya after construction of the Ram Janki Path.
