Bengaluru: In a commendable step toward improving access to property documentation services, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) organized a large-scale two-day E-Khata Mela at the Sahakara Nagar playground, located in the Byatarayanapura Assembly Constituency under the Yelahanka Zone. The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 4,300 citizens participating.

The initiative was designed to facilitate and expedite the processing of E-Khata applications, especially in densely populated urban areas. Applicants from not only the seven wards within the Byatarayanapura constituency but also from neighboring areas such as the Yelahanka Assembly Constituency and other BBMP zones attended the mela to submit their property documents and complete formalities.

According to BBMP officials, a total of 4,300 tokens were distributed over the two days. Of the applications received, 1,694 were processed on-site, and 1,259 were successfully approved, with final E-Khatas issued immediately—saving applicants weeks of waiting time.

Interestingly, 435 applications were from other BBMP zones, which will now be routed to the respective zonal offices after document verification and digitization. These out-of-zone cases highlight the wide-reaching impact and appeal of the mela model.

BBMP Joint Commissioner of Yelahanka Zone, Mohammad Nayeem Momin, emphasized that this drive is just the beginning. “In coordination with local residents’ welfare associations, citizen groups, and apartment communities, we will continue to organize similar E-Khata melas across the zone to ensure that more people benefit from faster and transparent services,” he stated.
