Goods train derails, hits many trains on Mumbai-Surat section

According to the western railway, movement of trains on the up line of Mumbai-Surat section has been affected due to derailment at point no 117/118 at Palghar yard

Mumbai: More than 20 trains on Mumbai-Surat route were cancelled or short-terminated as six wagons of a goods train jumped off the track at Palghar yard this evening. The incident occurred around 5 pm. \However, no casualty was reported in the accident.

According to the western railway, movement of trains on the up line of Mumbai-Surat section has been affected due to derailment at point no 117/118 at Palghar yard. “Six up and five down local trains have been cancelled. Work is going on a war footing to restore traffic,” said a senior officer of the western railway.

Earlier on March 18, four coaches of Sabarmati-Agra superfast train had derailed in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Many passengers had suffered injuries in the accident and the Indian railway had constituted a three-member committee to probe the issues.

The trains short-terminated due to the accidents are 09160 Valsad -Bandra terminus Spl (at Umbargaon Road); 09186 Kanpur – Mumbai Central Exp (at Sachin); 09056 Udhna – Bandra Terminus Exp (at Bhilad); 12936 Surat – Bandra Terminus Exp (at Vapi); 19426 Nandurbar – Borivali Exp (at Valsad); 19102 Surat – Virar Exp (at Bilimora); 09180 Surat – Virar Exp (at Udhna); 09160 (Valsad-Bdts) short terminated at Umbergaon.

The trains that are short-terminated and cancelled are 09186 (Kanpur-Mumbai Central) short terminated at Sachin and cancelled between Sachin-Mumbai Central; 09056 (Udhna-Bdts) short terminated at Bhilad and cancelled between Bhilad-Bdts; 12936 (Surat-Bdts) short terminated at Vapi and cancelled between Vapi-Bdts; 19426 (Nandurbar-Borivali) short terminated at Valsad and cancelled between Valsad-Bvi; 19102 (Surat-Virar) short terminated at Bilimora and cancelled between Bilimora-Virar and 09180 (Surat-Virar) short terminated at Udhna and cancelled between Udhna-Virar

List of trains cancelled are train no 93028 (Dahanu Road- Virar); train no 93030 (Dahanu Road-Churchgate); train no 93032 (Dahanu Road-Churchgate); 93034 (Dahanu Road-Churchgate); 93036 (Dahanu Road-Virar); 93038 (Dahanu Road-Virar); 93029 (Virar-Dahanu Road); 93031 (Dadar-Dahanu Road); 93033 (Virar-Dahanu Road); 93035 (Virar-Dahanu Road); 93037 (Churchgatee-Dahanur Road); 09083 (Virar-Valsad); 09084 (Valsad-Borivali); 09085 (Borivali-Valsad); 09159 (BDTS-VAPI) cancelled between bdts-ubr, will run between ubr-vapi; 09055 (BDTS-UDHNA) cancelled between bdts-bld, will run between bld-udn; 12935 (BDTS-Surat) cancelled between BDTS-Vapi, will run from Vapi to Surat; 19417 (Borivali-Ahmadabad) cancelled between Borivali-Valsad, and will run Valsad to Ahmadabad; 19101 (Virar-Bharuch) will be cancelled between Virar-Udhna & run ex Udhna-Bharuch and 09090 (Sanjan-Virar).
