Bengaluru: Karnataka’s minister MB Patil on Tuesday urged the apex body of National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) to consider establishing an industrial corridor in Kolar Gold Fields (KGF).
Patil, who holds the portfolio of large and medium industries in the newly formed Siddaramaiah government, made the demand while attending the apex body meeting virtually. The apex monitoring authority of NICDIT meeting was being chaired by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman in New Delhi.

Patil informed the meeting that 3600 acres of land which belongs to BEML Ltd in KGF can be used for the purpose. He opined that if this project becomes a reality it would become one of the prominent industrial hubs on the Bengaluru-Chennai industrial corridor and create a lot of job opportunities. He added that the proposal regarding the project would be submitted to the apex body soon.
The proposal made by Patil witnessed a positive response in the meeting. Union ministers, who were present, asked Patil to submit the proposal with details.
About Chennai-Bengaluru industrial corridor (CBIC) Tumakuru node, Patil informed that the work for the development of Phase-A in 1736 acres has been entrusted to L&T at a contract price of ₹948 crores.

Referring to Bengaluru-Mumbai industrial corridor (BMIC) Dharawada node, he told that the preliminary notification has been issued for 6042 acres and a proposal has been submitted to the government to issue a final notification for 2000 acres. He added that the master plan for the entire 6042 acres is under process.
The Karnataka minister also said that the state government would give priority to resolving issues related to land acquisition concerning the above projects.
Piyush Goyal, Union minister for commerce and industries, Sarbananda Sonowal, union minister for ports, chief ministers and industry ministers of various states were present. S Selva Kumar, principal secretary, department of industries, Karnataka, Gunjan Krishna, commissioner, department of commerce and industries, Karnataka, and other higher officials of the state virtually attended the meeting.
