Jharkhand opens 80 resource-rich schools of excellence

Around 25,000 teachers are to be recruited by the month-end and support the state government’s mission to ensure quality teaching at affordable cost

Ranchi: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday inaugurated as many as 80 ‘schools of excellence’ across the state. This is the first lots of around 4,000-5,000 such institutions planned by the state government to ensure quality education to students of all communities in the government schools.

Officials of the departm-ent of school education and literacy said that all the schools of excellence have been equipped with state-of-art infrastructure and teaching facilities, well trained teachers, ensured availability of required books and uniforms. The school management committees have been tasked to ensure that students of the schools of excellence get high quality education at all cost.

Principal and teachers received training from IIM

The CM said that the principals and teachers of all the excellent schools have been trained for teaching skills by IIM, Ranchi, to teach the students in accordance with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum. “Our government is continuously striving with the commitment to strengthen the education system in the state.

The function to open the schools of excellence was held at Thakur Vishwanath Shahdev High School, Jagannathpur, Dhurwa, which was attended by chief secretary Sukhdev Singh, development commissioner Arun Kumar Singh and local MLA Navin Jaiswal, among others.

25000 teachers to be appointed soon

CM Soren said that the state government is determined to recruit around 25,000 qualified teachers in the government schools. “The appointment process is likely to complete by the month end. More teachers would be posted in the schools of excellence. We have resolved the issues para teachers, which were pending for years,” said the CM.

Schools, teachers and students to be rewarded

The CM said that there would be a management committee inside the school for running the schools of excellence. There will be a regular assessment of schools, teachers for their efficiency and ability of students to learn and compete with the most efficient schools in their areas. “Outstanding performers would be duly rewarded from time to time,” said Soren.

Admission starts today

Officials said that the admission in the schools of excellence has also been launched today by the CM today after inauguration of the newly constructed building of Thakur Vishwanath Shahdev High School, Jagannathpur. He also launched the school’s website and handed over the certificate of affiliation to the principal of Thakur Vishwanath Shahdev High School. The schools of excellence were also opened online in the districts of Saraikela, Dumka, Lohardaga, Giridih and East Singhbhum.

Schools of excellence conceived during Covid phase

State chief secretary Sukhdev Singh said that the concept of the excellent school was conceived during the coronavirus pandemic. “A better education system is based on three standards. Easy process, affordable rates and quality education. Providing accessible process, affordable rates and quality education in outstanding schools is a priority of the state government. It is seen that private schools have good quality teaching but they are not affordable for common students. Efforts are being made to ensure that quality education could be imparted to the children of all classes and communities in the state,” said Singh.

Start of good initiative in education field

Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal said that 80 excellent schools are being inaugurated at the state level today for teaching and learning on the lines of CBSE in government schools of Jharkhand. “This is a good initiative in the field of education. This new initiative may have ups and downs but the cooperation of all, including public representatives, is essential to achieve the goal. The vision of an excellent school can be fulfilled with the efforts of the teachers including the school management and the dedication of the students studying in the schools,” he added.
