Patna: Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute of Economic Development & Social Change (LNMI), an autonomous institute of Bihar government, has launched two five-year integrated courses—masters in business administration (MBA) and masters computer application (MCA)—from the current academic session.
Director of the institute S Siddharth, who is also principal secretary to the chief minister, revealed to the mediapersons here on Monday. He said that the LNMI has decided to expand arena of teaching by launching new courses owing to encouraging results in placement of its pass out students in top-notch institutes of the country and abroad.
More than 75% of its students studying in the final year have been successfully placed in various companies in the current placement season. “Companies are still coming for campus interviews, but the students are reluctant, as they are more interested in supporting their family businesses or planning to launch their own start-ups. However, the massive response of companies towards hiring the professionals from LNMI has prompted us to launch new courses. We are going to launch new courses of executives also,” Siddharth, an additional chief secretary rank officer of the state government, said.
The LNMI has also established a well-equipped start-up cell and is planning to set up incubation cetnre very soon to nurture and support fresh business ideas from budding entrepreneurs. In the last two-three years, the institute has transformed in to a top-rated B-school of the state with state of the art facilities and qualified teachers. “We do conduct smart classes to enlighten our students on various topics of management and computer applications from experts and faculties of reputed institutes like Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) and Indian Institute of Technology (IITs),” said registrar of the institute Sudhir Kumar, who also happens to be a serving officer of Bihar Administrative Service (BAS).

The institute has recently opened its admission procedure by calling applications from the students. “The students can apply for admission online in various under graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) courses till May 20 and the entrance test will be conducted between June 3 and 8. We admit students through common admission test (CAT), management aptitude test (MAT) and through Xavier aptitude test (XAT), besides out own entrance test,” said the registrar.
Placement in-charge, LMNI, Preeti Singh, said so far 165 students (out of 220) of the outgoing batch of 2022-24 have been successfully placed and companies are still coming to hire them. “The highest package of ₹15 lakh per annum (LPA) was offered by the Federal Bank, while average package remained ₹6LPA. About 90% of the students of 2021-23 batch got placement with an average pay package of ₹7.4LPA,” she added.

The registrar said that many new and advanced classrooms were set up in the last few years, apart from induction of qualified faculty members. “Today, more than 1,200 students are study in the institute, which is the one of its class in Bihar,” added Kumar.
